Literally spent a few hours last night looking for a hotel in Florence so thanks for the recommendations - all so expensive though!

(I mean what I was looking at, yet to look into your picks - though Soprano Suites is already on mine!)

Yes!! Been talking about this with friends recently, Florence prices have gone up and up and up since the pandemic (not just hotels, rent in general too -- one of the reasons we had to move out of Florence). So sadly this is across the board. If you want somewhere less pricey though and are willing to go outside of Florence, Valdirose is amazing and so reasonable. Or come out to San Miniato! I have a whole separate list just for my town :)

We've got a wedding to go to so very stuck with locations - honestly whilst we're both excited to visit we would have waited until we have a bit more money to enjoy the trip with! It is interesting to hear that it is not just 'how things have always been' looking at placed to stay - honestly we're booking another trip simultaneously and if you lined up hotel quality Florence is at least double elsewhere we're looking...

Betty is the best! I've only stayed at Oltrarno Splendid, but got a peek at AdAstra and dream of staying there too. I actually interviewed her and Matteo for my Substack and can't wait to see the new hotel they're opening! https://newromantimes.substack.com/p/meet-betty-soldi-and-matteo-perduca

They are wonderful, I call them Florence's power couple! Anything they imagine to do or make or happen, just happens!

Thank you for these! Heading to Noto in a few weeks (largely based on your recommendation of where to stay in Sicily!) and would love any restaurant recommendations you might have for a family of 11 (ages 1-78!). Thank you!

I will admit that I had a bit problem finding restaurants in Noto of the kind I wanted (trattoria type) and with a 3 year old at the time! Lots of beautiful, fancy restaurants (and of course there is Caffe Sicilia) but I wish I could be of more help!

Thank you for this! This inspires me to do something similar for Peru.

Do you happen to have any recommendations for Cinque Terre?

Emiko Davies's avatar

Just this one which we loved! The views were amazing, it helps to have a car though, or use their shuttle! https://www.emikodavies.com/a-cinque-terre-getaway/

I've been to Villa Lena and had a wonderful time!

In this same trip, I followed some tips from your blog and they were all GREAT! Thank you for sharing :)

Hopefully, I'll visit Enoteca Marilu and do one of your workshops

Hello! Loving your site, thank you for sharing these recommendations. On another post you mentioned a seminary for 50 euros a night in San Miniato, do you by chance have contact details for this place? Very curious. Warmly, Hilary

They've changed hands so the website is a bit different now but you can find it here as "Dimore del Seminario" here: https://www.tuscanyone.it/strutture-tuscanyone
