I hope you’re feeling much better. I too started the New Year with a virus I couldn’t shake and it was not pretty. I loved your insta post of your little helper winking and her enthusiasm for helping you. Made me smile again, so thank you 🙏 Eugenia ❤️

So I absolutely did not even notice anything different in your presentation at all re the video with Luna you posted! I was so focused on the delightful Luna! I do always find that we are always so much more aware of ourselves than others are (I learnt this playing the viola growing up where others would not even notice the mistakes I thought were so obvious🤣)

Alice Feiring's book sounds fantastic!

Just had a quick look and I love the explanations from SFGirlByBay.....I pretty much have no style bones in my body, but I remember arriving at our apartment in Rome and thinking they had these super fancy overly large globe light fittings - turns out they were ikea! It's probably not hard to find amazing light fittings in Italy, but I do find ikea are good at lamps/lights!

Loved your gorgeous photos of Luna making pasta. It's so important to instill a love of food, and therefore cooking, in our little ones. I succeeded with our children, and am gratified to see that they are handing that down to their own children. Hope you're feeling better soon. Love all your posts. We're so looking forward to getting back to Italy, after not having been since 2018! All the best to you and your lovely family.

Emiko, I so enjoyed reading this, I too struggle to let myself go to that non-productive state, but when I do I realize that’s where so much of the magic happens.

Thank you for sharing the link to the archiving my teenage self essay, loved it!

Hope you are feeling better. Seeing you cook with Luna, fills my heart with warmth and love. It is difficult sometimes to appreciate those special and short moments of our cotidianity. As for the Italian summer I spent some time of June in 2022 in Sweden. The nordic countries can give you beautiful weather. Or maybe you can come to Argentina! It's winter in July! The north of Argentina is beautiful in that part of the year. Salta and Jujuy have radiant sunny days and chilly by the fire nights. Mountains, creeks. Lots of things to do with the girls!!

I love so much of your writing but especially this one ! Slowing down sounds like the best “resolution”.

I spent time in the Lake District of England last summer which was a welcome reprieve from Italy’s hot summer. Beautiful scenery, accessible walks, bookstores, and charming people.

Good thing you are listening to your body and taking time to care for yourself. I spent most of November and early December busy with my work, but then got sick and was forced to slow down. I’m still recuperating and honoring the fact that my body needs ample time to heal.

I’m happy to read that I’m not the only pannetone fanatic. When you find a good one, it only makes you want more! I went on a pre-Christmas pannetone buying spree at Eataly, Dallas-- so many varieties, I couldn’t help myself. My favorite so far has been the pear and chocolate combination. Next up is fig & walnut. I’ve made pannetone french toast, and plan to try a panetonne trifle if I can find a good recipe.

Continue to take good care of yourself and see you in the spring! 💞

I loved that post on Instagram and I never for once thought you looked a mess. I thought you looked cozy—having a sweet, quiet moment with your kid. A moment we happened to be invited to see. I appreciate your post on not being perfect. I’m working on simultaneously being less messy while not feeling shame when I am. I am glad you are starting to feel better! To a slow and restful January!
