You got to read the manuscript and contribute to Still Life? I love that book! I’ve read it twice - so far.

My favourite book of all time. Every now and then I pick it up and read a few chapters and go down another art history rabbit hole. Evelyn Skinner needs her own novel. Trying to work out how I can get there for this!

Ooohhh now that's an idea. I'll tell Sarah. No doubt she's already thought of it. She's busy writing the sequel now. I want to know what happened to everyone.

I hope I might be able to ask her myself. It’s such a beautiful book. So excited about this, it’s ridiculous!

This is so spooky as I just finished Still Life last night and saw your name in the acknowledgments! Maybe it’s a sign! It sounds utterly dreamy. I would love to join so much but we are in the middle of a house renovation which is meaning I can’t plan fun adventures like this just yet. Maybe there will be more? X

That is incredible! How funny. We were thinking (if all the stars align, of course, which is the main thing) that if this year's one goes well, that we might do it again next year for the 60th anniversary of the flood. x

Oh how I need this to happen next year! I have read the book no less than 3 times and every time I add another stop to my imaginary tour!

This sounds dreamy!!!!!

That would be amazing. I had no idea about the flood until I read the book. I'm crossing my fingers for this. By next year I might have had time to save up, and feel less guilt about leaving the little ones (who will be a whole year bigger) xx

So lovely I feel weepy!

As you know, one of my very favorite books ever.

I really wish we could join you—I’m even pretty sure we’ll even be in italy then! But we’ll have Michela along and I can’t imagine a way for that to work. Maybe for the next one 💙🦜

Ps Signor Lami! How marvelous is that.

Hahaha I love it! He should!!!

I both can’t wait and am nervous for the tv version.

Sara should have put in her contract to play Evelyn. Oooh maybe she did?!

I’m very much hoping we make it to at least cook w you in San Miniato. Will look at your November market days.

I had Still Life on my pile of books to be read for a few months; I finally started reading it a week ago. I knew I read about it and bought it on the basis of admiring who recommended it, but I couldn’t remember who it was. Today with thoughts of Florence in full force I checked sub stack and of course, it was Emiko Davies who I follow and love from afar. I just love this book.

I feel like it found me. Thank you.

Hi Emiko,

Your blog was such a valuable resource on my first trip to Italy. I loved your recommendations, especially for Turin. I loved Florence but I’m sad I didn’t try lampredotto. I guess I’ll just have to come back!
