I didn't visit Kyoto this trip and my previous visit to Kyoto was in December 2018 so it's not that updated but I did have very memorable soba at soba-no-mi Yoshimura where you can watch the chefs making soba noodles as you walk in! We loved it.

Thank you for the tips. Did you need to book Marui and Tempura Abe or could you just walk in?
We walked in to Marui (on a Friday night too!) but Tempura Abe has very limited seats so it might be a good idea to book if you can.
